Varsity VoxBox

29 Oct

Alllllrighty well i might be a tad late to the Varsity party but I’m here now and I’m ready to get things started.

In this Voxbox(Varsity themed) i received the following:

Tide Pods
Lip Gloss
Airheads Extremes
Nail strips
Facial cleanser samples and coupons

I have only one thing to say about the Tide pods. I don’t do laundry. My mom does. I use to do it before i got ill but now she does it and she loves the pods, how easy they are, but they are pretty expensive compared to regular detergent.

NYC Big bold Lipgloss was a surprise. I love NYC but i never wear lip gloss anymore. I used to, i mean i used to collect them and wear them like there was no tomorrow but something changed and now i just don’t wear them. Most are very sticky and or tooo glossy and if you have hair thats all the way down to you butt like mine, then you know the horrors of getting your hair stuck in gloss. Ew. The color i was sent was a nice pink toned gloss an although i didn’t like the texture because it was very goopy, it plumps nice and gives you that pleasant tingly feeling. But i was blessed with big plump lips so i don’t see myself using this product that much (if at all) in the future.

The Kiss Nail Dresses were AWESOME! I loooove this brand an i lovvvve the designs.

The Clearasil samples were pretty neat but i like the coupons for some of their other new products better and cant wait to try those out.

Last but not least, AIRHEAD EXTREMES. I love these. Some of my favorite candy right here. Always has been.

Well, until next time my loves,
Summer Josephine

PS. Happy almost halloween. What will you be this year? I have two ideas in mind and i can decide even though i don’t have much time left.

Ipsy October 2013

21 Oct

Hello Beauty

I signed up back in August for my birthday and was on the wait-list but i finally am a member now! I was sad i missed Septembers though because it looked like it had some pretty freakin awesome stuff but I’m happy none the less.

My bag contained :

A wet n wild Fergie collection eyeshadow palette in Desert Festival

A Sexy hair blow dry gel

A coastal scents medium shadow brush

LA Fresh face wipes

Zoya nail polish

Now, i love nail polish, addicted to it really, but the three colors they gave out this month weren’t anything too special in my opinion because i have so many like them already. I got the blue one and i must admit it looks much prettier on than in the bottle. So thats good.

I was disappointed that i got face wipes, i mean i can buy them when i go grocery shopping and they are all pretty much the same. But then i read that back of the package where it listed that it contained things like cucumber, aloe vera, vit e and c, and other good things for your face skin. They are not so much ‘makeup remover’ wipes as they are face refreshing wipes and i like that. Theres only ten in a pack though.

I have been wanting a coastal scents brush for Soo long now and this is probably my favorite out of the whole bag. It really does make a difference in how my eyeshadow looks when compared to my ELF brushes. And its so soft!

I wish i didn’t get the blow dry gel because ever since i started using my new shampoo and conditioner (hydra recharge) that Bzzagent sent me, i haven’t needed to blow dry my hair because it dries within 15 minutes now which is quite the feat since i have REALLY long and thick hair. Plus, i have a blood volume problem so whenever i do blow dry my hair, my arms go paralyzed after three minutes. Literally.

The eyeshadow palette is really cool because it has colors i will actually wear. There is a really nice coral color and some browns and tans. One color i even used as highlighter on my cheeks because its my skin color but with a really pretty sheen.

The theme this month was Art of Beauty and the bag was white with pink cursive writing.

All in all, it wasn’t too bad for my first Ipsy bag. But lets hope next month is even better.

Ta ta,
Summer Josephine

The best Fruit salad you will ever have tasted

21 Oct

Aloha my precious

Every year on every Holiday my Grandma makes THE BEST fruit salad. She even makes extra so i can take it home since she knows how much i love it.

I was feeling really hot and stuffy and reallly started to crave this fruit salad but alas, it is not a holiday so i have none. But i then tried to recreate it with the ingredients i found in my fridge and i must say, its pretty darn close.

What you’ll need:
One Apple
Of half of a Banana
White grapes
Purple grapes
Grapefruit (i used some that come in fruit cup form since i had no fresh grapefruit)
Oranges (again, i had none so i used tangerine fruit cups)
Grenadine syrup
Ginger ale
Orange juice
Lemon juice

Okay so i took a small(ish) bowl and put all of my chopped up apple pieces in there first (i cut them into tiny cubes, but you obviously don’t have to) then added some purple grapes that i cut into halves.

Next i added the white grapes, again, cut into halves. The add the grapefruit (i added the juice that was in the grapefruit fruit cup as well for extra flavour). I drained the juice out of the tangerine fruit cup because it tasted gross and just added the tangerine slices.

Slice a banana in half, then cut it to small cubes. Add some orange juice, then a tad bit of lemon juice.

Add some ginger ale and some (a very small amount) of Grenadine.

Add some sugar and gently mix everything and cover the bowl and place in the fridge for it to really mix together a while.

Tada!! Now lets see how long i actually wait until i say ‘screw it’ and take it out of the fridge to eat it now

Poltergeist Cabinets

21 Oct

Hello lovely

I was just making myself a fruit salad (aka the food of the gods) and realized something peculiar. I never shut cabinets once i open them. I know its not that weird and that I’m not the only one but it just really hit me how ridiculous it is that once i open a cabinet in the kitchen, even though I’m still five inches from it, i walk away without shutting it and i don’t know why.

So sometimes my house looks like it has a poltergeist or something.

Its a good thing my dad has the opposite though, he will shut any cabinet thats open even if your hand is still reaching for a glass.

(ah)Em Cosmetics by Michelle Phan

11 Oct

Let me start this out by saying i love, LOVE Michelle Phan and cannot get enough of her… Er… You know what i mean.

She’s brilliant! In many ways. Not only is she amazingly talented with makeup and style, shes a total video game nerd and i love that about her. Plus, shes very inspiring and goes after her dreams.

Now she has released a makeup line! Oh my gosh, how exciting! I was so stoked when she announced it and still am excited for her but theres just one thing…a lot of the stuff is just so *ahem* expensive.

Dont get me wrong, i know that usually means higher quality but if you just released the line, wouldn’t it be best to see how well everything sells and the reaction of buyers first before having them go for such a big price. (A life palette is around 70? Dollars i believe)

There definitely a few things (okay, a lot) that i would LOVE to get from Em like the contour/highlight stick (which is genius) and the pillow plush lip balm. And of course the life palettes, the design is just awesome. But i just cant drop that kind of money like that which is a bit disappointing but who knows what the future holds 🙂

If i ever do end up buying something from Em ill be sure to write about it.

Until next time-
Byeeee for now my lovely’s

Forever 21 birthday haul!

6 Oct

Its my birthday! Okay, well a month ago it was my birthday, but everything has been crazy and i never got to share with you the pretty things i got on a bday shopping spree at Forever 21!

I never like ‘haul’ videos or blogs much, but now i kind of get it. Maybe after seeing what i got and what i think of it, this post could help influence or inspire your next shopping urge 🙂

I only had the chance to photograph a few of the outfits but when i do, ill be sure to update.

This is actually a skirt and blouse but they work so well together that the look like a dress. I have been wanting a skirt like this for ages now and am so happy i finally have one. The shirt though, was just something i found hiding in the back of the store and i almost walked by, but there was a nagging feeling that this shirt could be amazing annnd i was right! I love it.

Now, i wore this to a dinner that night and although it was pretty cool outside, that skirt traps heat so much you could start to feel kinda gross and a little sweaty.

The blouse wasnt bad at all, but the buttons take soo loonng to do up and undo and if you eating or doin things involving your hands than i suggest you get someone to help unbutton the buttons on the sleeves so you can roll they up and keep em clean and out of the way. (Trust me you will need help with the buttons, they were designed by satan. They look cute though).

This isnt the best photo to give this dress justice because this dress is BEAUTIFUL. There were two patterns it came in but this one takes the cake. At least for me. Its very wispy so it trapping heat isnt a problem at all. If you have more of a ‘ahem’ chest, then i advise you wear a bra or tank top that can cover the important bits.

This dress is one of my favorites. Its so flattering and i love the way its shaped. The fabric feels so soft and amazing.

Bonus photo of my AWESOME HP cake!!!
